Abstract
This paper explores how scenarios and Goal-Oriented Requirements Engineering (GORE)
can be combined to achieve a stable set of requirements. In a case study we explore how
requirements for a framework are derived from goals expressed in a number of scenarios,
focussing on maintainability.
Scenarios have proven to be a strong tool in visualizing a future product and thus the
requirements that describe its characteristics. Especially the mission-critical
characteristics are emphasized in scenarios, since they focus on the essentials. Although
GORE poses serious concerns on the topic of scalability, it pays off in terms of better
requirements and more satisfaction from stakeholders.
